Title:
Knocking on Heavens Door
Format:
We will be using a Nikon D70 to produce this
Synopsis:
The CD cover will be of a girl either sitting in a graveyard with her head in her hands or sitting down with her head in her knees. If we cant get to a graveyard then we would have to chose somewhere atmospheric like an empty field or playground. The CD cover could be black and white or really dark colours to again make it atmospheric.
Audience
18-35 because the lyrics and video relate to the target audience.
Feasibility
we want to use a graveyard or an atmospheric place because the song says about heaven and knocking on the door. The whole CD cover will be pretty easy because a graveyard doesn't cost to use for a couple of minuets.
Rationale
I chose this cover because the song is dark and so the CD cover would have to be really dark. Because we thought that the girl could die we decided to do it in a graveyard and this again is atmospheric.

Last week a group of us went up stairs to start our recording project. When we got upstairs Tom told us what we were going to do. Orla, Seb, Claire and Harvey started setting up the microphones and instruments. Me, Rosie and Tom all watched Tom the music dude setting up each drum kit piece. He started by asking Harvey to hit the drums one after another. This way Tom could look at how loud each piece was going to be and that way he can also check the balance of each piece of the equipment.
After Tom did this Seb, Orla and Harvey all played the songs while we listened and watched Tom controlling the balance. After the guys had played the song they came back in and we listened to the song. As the song was playing Tom was explaining we have to make the musicians feel good because that way they play even better. Tom then started editing the music and lifting the balance and showing us how the equipment worked. As we were doing this a few of us took photos of the equipment.
At the end Tom said next week we can have a go at editing and also next week we would put the vocals in.

Production Diary
Friday 7th January 2011
Last week we chose two productions to do as our project. I firstly chose print production and video production. We then had to write what we already knew about that certain production and the certain equipment we had used in that production. We then had to write what we didn't know about that certain production and what we would like this project to teach us about each production.
We then moved to the music department for the benefit of the people who had chosen music production and they looked around and chose what song to play and then record. Soon some people had changed their mind from their original idea to the music production and so all the people doing music production went off and set up each instrument and connected them to the editing suite. Then a few of the people came in and they started doing sound checks, making sure each piece of equipment was working properly and was properly connected to the editing equipment. We then listened to the drums, the guitarist and the base player and it sounded really good. At the last minute Flo and me changed our minds about doing one production and we changed to do music production. It was really good and i'm glad i changed my mind from doing print production to music production. So I am now doing video production and music production.
